Flourish Mental Health Counseling

Services

Counseling for adults and couples in Colorado Springs.

Each service below shares the same foundation: collaborative care, careful pacing, and respect for what you have already survived.

Individual Counseling

Adults who want a thoughtful, steady place to understand what they are experiencing and to make change that lasts beyond symptom relief.

Offered in person in Colorado Springs and by telehealth statewide.

Common reasons people seek this work

  • Anxiety, panic, or persistent overwhelm
  • Past experiences that continue to affect the present
  • Difficulty with emotional regulation or self-criticism
  • Burnout among caregivers, first responders, and helping professionals
  • Questions of identity, values, faith, or meaning

What treatment may involve

We begin with understanding: your history, your current supports, and what you hope will be different. From there we build practical skills for regulation and safety, and we work at a pace that keeps daily life manageable. Deeper processing is added only when it will be useful and sustainable.

Couples Counseling

Partners who feel stuck in a cycle they can name but cannot seem to interrupt, and who want to reconnect rather than simply argue less.

Offered in person in Colorado Springs and by telehealth statewide.

Common reasons people seek this work

  • Communication difficulties
  • Recurring conflict that follows the same pattern
  • Emotional disconnection or growing distance
  • Attachment injuries and breaches of trust
  • Affair recovery
  • Relationship transitions — parenting, relocation, illness, retirement

What treatment may involve

My work with couples is attachment-focused and draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Rather than assigning blame, we slow the cycle down enough to see the longings and fears underneath it, then practice new ways of reaching for one another. Individual trauma histories are held with care when they enter the room.

Trauma Therapy

Adults living with the effects of single-incident trauma, prolonged stress, or complex trauma that began early and repeated over time.

Offered in person in Colorado Springs; telehealth is available when clinically appropriate.

Common reasons people seek this work

  • Intrusive memories, nightmares, or flashbacks
  • Hypervigilance, startle responses, or chronic tension
  • Numbing, avoidance, or feeling far away from life
  • Shame, self-blame, or difficulty trusting

What treatment may involve

Preparation comes first. We build grounding and emotional-regulation skills, strengthen internal and external resources, and establish clear pacing agreements. When there is enough stability, we may use EMDR or other trauma-processing approaches, always with the option to slow down or pause. Processing is never rushed to meet a schedule.

Dissociation-Focused Counseling

Adults who experience dissociation and want care from someone who is comfortable with it, curious about it, and unhurried in approaching it.

Offered in person in Colorado Springs and by telehealth statewide.

Common reasons people seek this work

  • Memory gaps or lost time
  • Depersonalization — feeling detached from yourself
  • Derealization — feeling that surroundings are unreal or distant
  • Internal conflict, or a sense of parts of self with differing needs
  • Identity disruption or feeling disconnected from who you are

What treatment may involve

This work centers safety, daily functioning, internal communication, and collaboration. We attend to stabilization and to relationships among parts of self before any processing of traumatic material. Experiences consistent with dissociative identity disorder (DID) and other specified dissociative disorder (OSDD) are familiar to me; a formal diagnosis is never required to begin, and nothing about your experience will be labeled for you.

You do not have to navigate this alone.
